[spoiler show=”Read more …”]“The New Ancient Songs” featuring world premieres of works by the acclaimed Iranian composer Reza VALI performed by noted international performers.The concert will consist of the world premieres of Zand (Calligraphy No. 2) version for Ney (the Persian vertical classical reed flute that requires the sound being produced from inside the mouth), and string trio, as well as Three Romantic Songs, homage à Johannes Brahms, for violin and piano. Other pieces on the program will be Folk Songs (Set No. 9) for flute and cello, Four Persian Folk Songs for voice and piano, and Folk Songs (Set No. 11B) for flute/ney, violin, viola, violoncello, and Persian Suite for flute and piano. This concert has been organized in honour of the 60th birthday of the composer and has been made possible through the support of ‘The Victorian Persian Arts Centre’ (VPAC). VPAC is proud to present the internationally known musicians Melika Tehrani Bastaninezhad (soprano), Elizabeth Sellars (violin), Suying Aw (viola), Rosanne Hunt (cello), Gudrun Beilhartz (piano) and Arya BastaniNezhad (flutes & ney).[/spoiler]

SHIRAZ has been shaped by its founder and artistic director Arya BastaniNezhad. Arya is enthusiastically seeking out new musical collaborations with high-profile composers and performers.Iranian folksongs are deeply enriched with the essence of regional styles performed in a new and creative compositional framework and style. The folksongs tell a story about Iranian folktales and are deeply rooted in the richness of the culture, people’s thoughts and their lifestyles.This concert features selected compositions by the prominent Iranian composer Siavash BEIZAI and will be performed by Arya BASTANINEZHAD (Shiraz): flute&ney; Karen HEATH (Melbourne): clarinet; Melika TEHRANI BASTANINEZHAD (Tehran): soprano; and Irina CHERKASSKI (Russia): piano.A knowledge of the Persian language and culture is not a prerequisite for the comprehension of the folksongs, though it adds some colour.[/spoiler]

[spoiler show=”Read more …”]ADORAMUS adores music from all parts of the world and play together to bring you harmony. Adoramus presents the unusual mixture of sounds when the Ney, a classical Persian end-blown Flute that requires the sound being produced from inside the mouth, is joined by a Pinschofon and an 8 string Guitar in a specially transcribed work by leading Iranian composer Hossain Alizadeh. Adoramus also plays some more traditional music for various size flutes and guitar including Bach’s beautiful Triosonata in G BWV 1039, a couple of pieces by Weber arranged for Flute and Alto Flute by Theobald Boehm, the famous Hungarian Fantasy op. 35 by Doppler as well as a variety of duos by Mozart and solos including Debussy’s Syrinx and a charming Rondo by Lanz played on an early 19th century guitar.
